Here are a few pics from my trip to San Francisco (Sept 11-14) to meet up with some of the San Diego Padres players for a little hang time before and after their games with the Giants. On Monday night after their game, I met with six players in one of the their hotel rooms for Bible study and prayer. These dudes are serious about tracking with Jesus as they play Major League Baseball. They understand that God may not help them win (terrible theology), but that He's with them through every circumstance and trial, giving them the opportunity to grow and be refined in the process. Two of the other nights there was powerful prayer and time in God's Word with a couple of the players.During my time as chaplain for the Tacoma Rainiers (AAA Seattle Mariners) I've had the opportunity to see the lives of professional baseball players up close. Andy "C-Lite" Mineo spent four days with Reality Sports last week doing shows for a number of area youth groups and at SozoFest on Hilltop in Tacoma. C-Lite combines amazing hip hop talent with a passion for Jesus reflected in his solid Biblical lyrics.C-Lite's main message is that our sin is "wack". For you non-hip hop fans that means "messed up"! Thankfully, Jesus Christ came to put sinners who would put their faith in him back in right standing with God. You won't find many who can speak the truth through hip hop like C-Lite. At SozoFest on July 13th, not only did C-Lite and his Reality Sports team members win the 3-on-3 basketball tournament, but he shared the good news of Jesus Christ through his music in front of about 300 in attendance. The show ended with a number of gang members coming forward for prayer.Check out the gallery of photos in the upper right. Thanks, C-Lite for a great week!
