Former RS Wrestler Succeeding at College Level
Darren Faber, a junior at Wheaton College in Illinois, is enjoying great success at the NCAA Division III level. Darren recently won the CCIW Conference Championship at 197 lbs to earn a berth to the NCAA Regional in Minnesota. Darren will look to earn a spot from there to the 2012 Division III National Championships in Wisconsin, March 9-10.
Not only has Darren been piliing up the victories, he also embodies the Reality Sports philosophy of blessing his opponents. In the recent 31-team Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational, Darren was awarded the "Pete George Sportsmanship Award". This is a tribute to how Darren competes, truly believing it is an honor to have a competitor who shows up to sharpen him. Win or lose, Darren shows class and respect for his opponent. Darren lives out the RS mantra, "We care a lot, but we don't care at all." Without sacrificing excellence, Darren demonstrates that life is way bigger than wrestling.
As a Reality Sports wrestler in high school, Darren earned All-American honors in Greco-Roman at the Junior Nationals in Fargo, and capped his high school career with a 4A state runner-up finish (to current Boise State wrestler Jake Swartz, also a former Reality Sports wrestler). Darren went on to earn National Junior College All-American honors last year for Highline College, placing 4th at the 2011 NJCAA National Championships.
We're proud of you, Darren!
