Teams

In 2011-2012, Reality Sports will field one 14U baseball team. Team tryouts are held in August of each year with number of teams determined by available coaching staff and interest of area players. The number of teams varies each year with anywhere from one to ten teams being fielded. Rosters are set by the beginning of September.

Contact Director of Baseball Team Operations, Harold Schulz, for more information regarding RS baseball teams.

TRAINING

Team training includes a Fall Instructional Academy (Sept-Oct), Speed and Agility Training (Nov-Dec), and Winter Workouts (Jan-Feb).  Teams do not train with RS during the high school baseball season (Feb-May).

SCHEDULE

Teams play a competitive schedule from April or May (depending on age) to July based on the skill level of the roster.  League and/or independent games and local and out-of-town tournaments are included in the schedule.  Visit individual team pages for specific schedules as they become available.

SERVICE

Service projects are also included throughout the year.  Players will serve in various capacities and locations throughout the community.  RS partners with the Tacoma Rescue Mission in many of these projects.  Players are also involved in an extended service opportunity/local mission trip, June 20-23, 2011 (13U and 16U) and June 28-30 (18U), where teams stayed the night in Tacoma and served around the community each day.  The 14U team will travel to Dallas, TX in June 2012 to play baseball and serve in the communities there.

Other local service projects are scheduled during the year from September to May. Check out mission trips and other service projects from past years that have included New Orleans (2006), Mexico (2007), and the Dominican Republic (2007, 2008, 2009)

THEME

The theme for the 2010-2011 RS baseball teams was "Man Up!"  Players explored what it looks like to be a man both on and off the field in today's culture.  The God-Man, Jesus Christ, is the model for what it looks like to be a man. The theme for 2011-2012 in Reality Sports Baseball will be "Taking It To the Next Level" as players examine how to train and compete with intensity but bless their opponent in the process.

COST

Reality Sports baseball teams do include a player fee. This is the only program under the umbrella of Reality Sports that is not run by donation, due to the high overhead of uniforms, tournament fees, umpires, equipment, travel, etc.  Player fees are set each year in August based on the individual needs of each team.  2011-2012 player fees are as follows:

14U - $1,500

RS provides multiple opportunities for players and families to raise money to support player fees.
